Texas surgeon's divorce takes another turn

Divorce can be a painful process for any Texas couple. Decisions need to be made concerning almost every aspect of their lives together. These decisions include determining child custody and child support based on the best interests of the couple's children.

Without the right help, a high asset divorce can be even more difficult. In a high asset divorce, or a divorce involving a high profile couple, all the same decisions need to be made as in any divorce, but there may be additional considerations. Often, there is a business that needs to be valued so that business assets can be split. There may also be real estate, retirement accounts or other investments that needs to be valued and split between the parties.

One former Texas hand surgeon is currently divorcing his wife of nine years. The couple is said to be worth millions of dollars. The two have a long history of a rocky relationship. There have been allegations of abuse during their relationship as well as several spits and reconciliations during their marriage. After the split, this man sued his wife for allegedly interfering with his business.

The already complicated and heated case has now taken another turn. The former surgeon's lawyers have recently filed a motion for sanctions against his wife's attorney. The man's attorneys claim that the wife's attorney has made insulting and misogynistic slurs female lawyers on the husband's defense team. The court has now had to stop the divorce proceedings to deal with this issue. The judge will need to decide if the wife's attorney needs to be punished before the case can move forward.

As this case shows, it is important to have the right professionals working with a person during a divorce. This is especially true with a high asset divorce. With so much at stake, people need the right experience and knowledge to make the process as easy as possible.
